Additional Fostering Services Medway Kent
Additional servicesWe are always looking to grow our additional services team to support our families across Kent and Essex. Additional services roles are varied and can be extremely rewarding.
Mentoring
Mentoring is all about establishing a relationship with one of our young people. They will benefit from spending time with mentors who help them to see how truly amazing they are. Our mentors are carefully matched with their young people and goals are set depending on their needs. This could be anything as broad as helping them to increase their confidence in specific things like navigating public transport. We work alongside our mentors and support them to, in turn, support their young person.
Family time supervision
Our family time supervisors ensure that the time that foster children spend with their birth families runs as smoothly as possible and that everyone is kept safe during family time sessions.
Family time can take place either in the community or in one of our family time suites in our offices in Kent or Essex. Our family time supervisors write reports at the end of each session to evidence progress and record the goals which have been achieved.
Transport
Although it is primarily our foster parents responsibility to drive their foster children where they need to be, they can’t always be in two places at once!
Transport jobs could include driving children to and from school, to appointments or to family time.
Communication skills are key in transport work, to ensure that the child feels safe during their travels.
Our transport workers must be available to listen to young people during the journey.
Support work
Support work encompasses everything else.
It could be anything from helping foster parents get foster siblings to appointments, taking a young person out when it may help the family dynamic, helping to provide stability to the fostering family at a particularly difficult time or just supporting a young person who needs an extra bit of help.
