Organisation Overview:
Diverse Care and Xcel 2000 are two innovative, dynamic fostering organisations (part of The Hazel Project) covering parts of London, Kent and Essex. We are committed to providing safe, nurturing foster homes for children in care. We recruit and train foster parents, prioritise the well-being and development of children and young people, and promote effective safeguarding and foster family stability. We collaborate closely with foster families and professional networks to ensure every child reaches their full potential.

Purpose of the Role:

Our Fostering Social Workers ensure that foster parents are able to provide safe and high-quality care for their foster children. Key duties include; developing working relationships, offering advice and reassurance and conducting home visits. The role also involves liaising with local authorities, attending meetings, and contributing to foster parent training and reviews.

To support their work, our Fostering Supervisors are assisted by dedicated teams— Recruitment, Referrals, Out of Hours, Training, Additional Services, and Education—who work directly with foster parents to help ease everyday pressure.

Key Responsibilities

  • Offer ongoing supervision, advice and support to a manageable caseload of foster parents to ensure the well-being and safety of children in their care.
  • Conduct regular home visits to foster parents, offering guidance and ensuring they are working within the company’s policies and procedures.
  • Support and empower foster parents during meetings and reviews.
  • Coordinate and chair regular supervision group meetings to provide guidance and peer support for foster parents.
  • Promote stability in foster families by proactively addressing potential issues and supporting foster parent retention.
  • Complete and maintain accurate records, including supervision notes, risk assessments, and care plan reviews.
  • Prepare reports for our fostering panel and contribute to reviews and audits as required.
  • Respond to safeguarding issues and work in line with child protection policies and procedures.
  • Assist foster parents to access training and development opportunities to enhance their skills and knowledge.
  • Attend required training and supervision meetings and take part in team meetings and staff briefings as needed.
  • Work closely with the wonderful Hazel Project team, social workers, schools, and health professionals to ensure a coordinated approach to the child’s care and the communication of any significant incidents or developments.

  • Contribute when required in the matching process, helping to support families to identify if children referred will be a good match, based on needs and foster parent strengths.
